A 23-year-old man was fatally stabbed by a “computer” that he had used to remotely control a thermostat at his apartment, according to police.
According to a news release from the Columbus Police Department, officers responded to the home at about 3:30 p.m.
Monday after a woman reported a man using the thermostats in the apartment to change the temperature, the release stated.
The victim, who had multiple stab wounds, was transported to a local hospital, where he later died.
Officers said they have not yet determined what motivated the man to use the thertopat, but that they believe it was connected to the city’s electronic parking meter system, the news release stated, as cited by the Columbus Dispatch.
