Computer systems that keep your mobile phones awake on demand, and also call the police, have been stolen in the past year, a senior police official said.
According to a statement issued by the Mumbai Police Commissioner, the thief took a laptop computer that was being used to monitor traffic and passwords from the police station.
The thief, who is still at large, is believed to be in the possession of a mobile phone and the stolen phone.
The police have registered a case under Sections 420 (stealing computer equipment) and 504 (theft of a computer system) of the IT Act.
The theft is a serious offence, said Inspector-General of Police (IGP) of Mumbai Police, Bimal Kumar.
